Here's a pic of the arena during worship last Friday in Tulsa. Max Lucado and Bob Russell spoke and it was fantastic. It was great to see Max and catch up a little bit. I love him--but almost love his family more. :)

Here's a picture that's closer up. I think this was taken Saturday morning when we led before Mike Cope.

My friend I mentioned yesterday, Arlene, sent me a picture from Camp all those years ago. I am pretty sure it was the summer of 1985 or 1986 (frightening!). I WILL NOT be posting that picture, Arlene. Are you KIDDING me??!! You can't even see my face for the braces. UGH! (thanks, Arlene--what a blast from the past!)

Sheryl is still at the beach! Mr. Mom time is going well. Just ready for them to be back. We had fun yesterday at my mom's and then I took the girls to see The Shaggy Dog. It was cute.

Have a great day, everyone!

Okay-you are cracking me up with the whole face full of braces thing. Just to help you recover from the picture of yourself in the mid-80's....I was much more excited to meet you than I would be to meet Arlene's Prom Date!!! There is a little boost for the old ego...Ha! Thanks for the great worship experience in Tulsa. I am praying for you and the group.

Arlene and Holly were regulars at our camp, too. I've got some great memories of them both. Arlene, seems like I remember some braces to go with the bangs and blue eye shadow! : )

Fortunately for BOTH of you, I do not have scanning capabilities at my house (being a poor school teacher married to ANOTHER poor school teacher) or I'd post a picture I have of BOTH of you together. . .braces, bangs, and blue eyeshadow to boot.

This is Roxanne. . .also from camp. Arlene, I have no doubt that you know who I am. Brandon, I truly hope you remember me. I have been meaning to contact you since I ran across your photo inside the jacket of a Zoe Worship cd I got last summer when I was at Harding visiting.

I clearly remember the day I busted in on you, Daniel, Laurie, and Lori as you sat on the see-saws at camp being shunned by the rest of the campers who did not yet know you. Can it be that it was so very long ago? I have been married just three years less than my total age that summer. EGADS!!!!

Anyway--my friend Sarah e-mailed me today and let me know that you had mentioned a "friend Arlene" from "camp." Just had to get in on the action of this conversation.

I remembered Laurie as your sister. . .but Sarah said you're an only child? I also remember ya'll discussing some old station wagon. Am I completely off base? My favorite memory was of Daniel who did a very emotional reading of Isaiah during worship one Sunday morning. I told him afterward how his emotion had really made the passage real for me, when he revealed that he wasn't that emotional--he just didn't have his contacts in and couldn't read very quickly because the words were so blurry.

Arlene. . .how is it that I did not know that you went to the prom with such a star??? Yikes, girl!!!

Contact me at my blog and leave your e-mail addresses if you care to do so.

Both of you are remembered fondly in my heart. . .and in my photo album.

Love to you,

Roxanne

And Donna. . .that WAS at our camp. :) I don't know what years you were at Sr. High camp. I think that Brandon and his gang were there like '85/'86 or '86/'87.

You are kidding! Had no idea. I've done some cleaning out at my parents and have boxes of pictures and letters from camp. I will have to check those dates for camp. Good times, great friends!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! This is like Camp night on the blog. I would try and spell the name of that camp but can't even begin to. ROXANNE--WOW!!! Unbelievable. So cool finding all you guys again.

I remember that night well. All of you were "insiders" who'd been to that camp for years. We had all grown up goinbg to Camp Blue Haven in New Mexico. That summer at Camp Ch. was hard at first, but ended up being a great experience. And I ended up with some cool friendships as a result.

That is hilarious about Daniel. I ahven't seen him in years. He's still in Abilene and is a doctor of some sort.

My email address is brandon@ottercreek.org. Let's catch up, Roxanne.

ONE MORE DAY TIL SHERYL COMES HOME! HALLELUJAH!!!

Reminder to self...do NOT take girls jogging in the jogging stroller...they aren't babies anymore and they're HEAVY. For the love.

Ch-Yo-Ca (Chi-Yo-Cuh). . .the first two letters of the words "Christian Youth Camp." Don't know who came up with it. . .there's a song too. :)

I'm glad ya'll came--coudln't remember where ya'll had gone to camp before--just that it was far away. I think Holly and them had been going to Camp Deer Run with Gibby Gilbert. . .they told us they had to like kill and cook their own chickens or something.

I guess we were spoiled with the cooks we had.

OH MY WORD. Let's just say it this way---and no offense to you Camp Deer Run folks, but we sang there in college when I traveled with Take One. It was one of the most frightening experiences. I actually think we should ahve had shots before going.

How fun is this! Hey Donna! I've been updated on you a little since I'm going to church with your brother now! And Roxanne!! HI!! I don't have a scanner either, so Shawn took a picture of it with our digital camera so we could e-mail it to Brandon. Pretty smart, huh?

Okay, Camp Deer Run wasn't all that bad. I went a couple of years before Gibby saved us, I mean, started taking us to Camp Ch-Yo-Ca. Jeans and long pants were great to wear in July in Texas! :) We wouldn't want an 8 year old to show any knees or anything.

I e-mailed Holly to tell her I ran into you, Brandon, and said how blessed we were to have such special friends and so many special memories through high school. Ch-Yo-Ca will always have a special place in my heart.
Thanks for letting us remember some of those fun memories.
Blessings~Arlene

We are the Camp Ch-Yo-Ca boys and girls, Entergetic, enthusiastic, Christian boys and girls. Jesus is our captain and we love him yes we do, we are the Camp Ch-Yo-Ca boys and girls (and then faster and you also have to yell BOYS if you are a boys and GIRLS if you're a girl!) This has brought back great memories of camp. I was a counselor for about 7 yrs and last night I was asking my husband Jeff, if he remembered you, Brandon, at camp. He said he didn't and I told him about the blog and said, "it's got to be Ch-Yo-Ca, he said he knew Holly and Arlene!" I think that we should have our own blogpage for Ch-Yo-Ca alumni! Especially since it's closed now..how sad, our kids won't get to experience it! And, living now in Sulphur Springs, TX, Camp Deer Run is THE place to go. I'll neead to go and check it out myself before I send my children there...just to see if they need shots! Oh, and don't forget the 80s perms...I also have some SCARY pictures! Think La. humidity....great, great memories.
