U.S. Business Hall of Fame

The Gary Musick Company is producing the annual U.S. Business Hall of Fame dinner at Opryland this week. Bert Hensley has done a fantastic job! Honorees are people like Bill France Sr. who founded NASCAR, Al Neuharth, founder of USA Today, and others. Presenters include Darrell Waltrip of NASCAR fame (and Disney's CARS movie), and John Seigenthaler--founder of the First Amendment Center. Paul Overstreet will perform along with a student group called "Fiddle Frenzy".

I am helping stage manage and directing the production singers who will do a couple of numbers. It should be a really interesting and fun night tomorrow.

On a completely different subject, American Idol is becoming more and more interesting. David Cooke was disappointing tonight. In fact, surprisingly, I liked Kristy Lee Cook tonight. (Am I really saying that??) She sang one of my ALL TIME favorite Martina McBride songs and didn't butcher it. I also thought David Archeletta did well.

My Infinity cast leaves this weekend and my NCL Majesty cast arrives. I am looking forward to the Majesty rehearsals because we are getting to do some creative things with the shows. It will be a cool rehearsal process. I'll miss a week and a half of it though because I will be on the Infinity for 5 days and then fly to Los Angeles to meet ZOE for our 4 days in Malibu. Crazy.

I got to sit on the carpet in our den tonight and take turns holding each of my children. It was such a sweet gift. We recently saw home videos where Maddie was Sam's age. I was stunned. Time really does fly. I am trying to take each moment captive and treasure it.

FINALLY!

Lately all of your posts have been "blah-blah-blah cruise ship cast blah-blah-blah rehearsals blah-blah-blah kids are adorable blah-blah-blah Sheryl is a fantastic wife blah-blah-blah I love my job blah-blah-blah God is good blah-blah-blah..."

It was so refreshing to have you mention something of substance this time --- your impressions of tonight's American Idol! Don't you know that's what we all read your blog for?

KIDDING, FOLKS! JUST KIDDING! I appreciate your enthusiasm for your life right now, and look forward to more of your reflections on faith in the working world.

And your kids really ARE adorable, too!

OK, to the important things like American Idol... this is the first season I've watched Idol. My kids are getting old enough to clamor to watch it. I'd heard several people say it was a fun thing to watch as a family. We are totally and pathetically hooked! Let me just say you are sad if you are impressed with Kristy Lee. Kidding. I am just very underwhelmed with her. Yes, David Cook is rockin' good, but the song choice this week was weird-o-rama!!! What was up with that?!? I have to say I was so mad when Simon told Carly she should be worried. She has the best voice of all the females in my opinion. The performance last night was a bit odd, but if she is out now, I'm going to be sad. I'm a David Archuleta fan... great song this week, too. What about the quirky Jason Castro???? Did you know he is a worship leader!? Funny! Enough trivial chatter for now....

Um...NO! I am NOT a Kristy fan. She should have left weeks ago but she wasn't the worst last night. Love David A!

That is so weird-I had another comment that I had posted-but maybe I did not send it through...

Anyway, it said something to the effect of that I am proud of your for knowing your Nascar trivia!! :)

Also, on American Idol...I have been a long time fan of David Archuleta and also love David Cook. David A has such a pure voice and an innocence about him, and Cook just rocks it!! Brooke and Carly are two of my favs!! This is my first season to really dig into it and I am LOVING it!! I was completely shocked at who was let go last night!! I imagine he will still have an awesome career, though. I definitely thought by now that Kristy would be long gone!!

I also said that I would be in Nashville for the weekend through Tuesday, and thought if you might have some free time on Monday-we could grab coffee or something? I know you are busy busy, but I thought I would check anyway!
