It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! It was in the upper 70's here today...perfect for outdoor play, a walk around the neighborhood, and plenty of sunshine.

We've got a busy week ahead--busy week ahead--busy week ahead---busy week ahead...sorry, had to stop the broken record. But, hey, it's Easter week! School parties, egg hunts, and rehearsals abound. We are going to be remembering the death and resurrection of Jesus this week in special ways. Friday night we're showing "The Passion of the Christ" at Otter Creek at 7pm. Saturday we have the children's ministry Easter egg hunt. Sunday morning there's a sunrise service at 7:30 am, regular service at 10am and a celebration service that night at 6pm. We'll have the praise choir and band helping to lead in worship. There will also be time for quiet reflection. It will be a great weekend. Praise God for the sacrifice and resurrection of His Son!

What are some of your Easter traditions? (Spiritually speaking) What is your favorite Easter candy? (Can't Easter candy be spiritual?)

What are some of your Easter traditions? (Spiritually speaking)
the sad part is that i can't think of any traditions of the spiritual type to speak of. one of those things that comes with having gone to conservative coc congregations for such a long time. i would like to go to a sunrise service, but i won't have that opportunity, if i go to any churches around here. port city had one two years ago, and i can't remember if we had one last year because i was out of town on business.

i wish that the coc congregations would celebrate spiritual things more often, especially this "holy"day.

What is your favorite Easter candy? (Can't Easter candy be spiritual?) peeps, of course! and white chocolate easter bunnies. dorothy always get me some of those, both of them.

Easter Traditions? I grew up Catholic, so there was always going to Mass, but I think my Grandma used to get Easter Wafers that my brother & I would break into circle-like shapes & "play" Communion with them, and of course we'd get in trouble for being sacreligious too!

Favorite Candy? PEEPS!!! But you have to pop holes in the cellophane & let them get stale for about a week & THEN eat them - YUM!!! Nothing better than stale Peeps!!!

Actually, I really love the sunrise service. One of my favorite songs growing up was "Was It a Morning Like This" by Sandy Patti (bring on the teasing), but the moment of the resurrection still gives me chills; movies like the Passion or Narnia move me to tears every time. There is nothing more amazing to me than to read through the story of the women discovering the empty tomb at daybreak, at daybreak. It just helps to make it so real. What a mighty God we serve!

Looking forward to this weekend, Brandon! Thank you for all you do!

Tradition...Resurrection eggs...I bought them at Wal-Mart last year and my son and his friends love getting them out and opening them. It's always exciting to get to that last egg and see that it is empty because the tomb was empty.

New favorite Easter candy....Starburst sour jelly beans

Well, no Easter stories here, but I did have sweet Sam in the nursery on Sunday, and I wanted to tell you that he is such a sweet sweet loveable child. After service all the sweet women in your family came to claim him. What a great family you have!! Sometimes you must almost burst from joy at the gifts of love you have been bestowed. I know you love them as much as they love you!!
I am glad to be able to touch that love!

spiritual Easter traditions? I've never heard of such a thing!

about the candy: Peeps? - gross! (I have some in my pantry from last Easter, any takers?); Starburst jelly beans - love them, but traditional flavors for me please, not sour, yuck; all time fav - Snickers egg - yum!

Growing up in a very conservative CoC, Easter only meant a new dress and an easter basket. We changed that with our kids and so we talk about the celebration that Easter should be each year. We bought some of those Resurrection Eggs one year and that was a neat way to talk to the kids about it when they were little. Last year, we watched "The Passion" movie on Easter week and that really made the celebration more powerful.

Hollow chocolate easter bunnies. Ears first.

Traditions?, loads! Anything family. Easter Sunday afternoon dinners including friends, hiding the Easter eggs, there's always one lost, isnt' there? Great to find it later (the plastic kind with candy inside). Campbell has been renting the renovated H.S. theater for a few years and inviting the community in to worship there on Easter. It's a new, tradition for us. Great to have people come in whom you grew up with but are not part of your church body, and worship with them, pray with them, commune with them. Such a treat. Have a great Lords day out there, Tenneseans!

Malia, if you've had those Peeps from last year AND they were open the whole time, then they are just about perfect for eating right now - the more stale, the better they get! New Peeps ARE gross. (This lovely tradition was passed down from my mother!)

P.S, from Phil
Oh I forgot, those orange marshmellow peanut things are great, but just like the Peeps, you gotta let them age, in an opened container. OOOOhhhh, the yumminess!

There's a new candy--at least new to me. It's made by Whoppers--my all time favorite. It's called Strawberry Milkshake Whoppers. Now that may sound nasty, I am telling you...they are out of this world!

Also, you absolutely CANNOT beat a good package of Sixlets.

OOOH...I LOVE Whoppers & I love strawberry malts too - yum! And I almost forgot about sixlets....but I did have some of my daughters PopRocks today & they are STILL fun!
