Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Sheryl and I have been cleaning out everything. Well, at least it feels like it. We've cleaned carpets, bedrooms, junk drawers, cars (even car carpets), and closets. Funny thing...when you clean out areas you haven't touched in a while you find a lot of mess. Some of it needs to be filed away for later use. Some of it needs to be put back where it really belongs. And some of it just needs to be thrown away. The last few days especially have been spent ridding ourselves of trash.

While this entry is literal (we really have been doing these things), it is also figurative for my life right now. We're cleaning. We're restoring. We're growing. It's been a difficult week, but I am even more convinced that God loves me even when I fail Him (and that happens daily), I have the best wife in the entire world, and the loving heart God has given my kids is a gift beyond explaination. I am a work in progress.

God is good. Cleaning is refreshing. Throwing away junk is beneficial to us all.

Yes, a work in progress. I often think of what Willard "I Need a Hug" Tate used to say he wanted on his tombstone: One of those signs that are placed at the end of a section of highway that a road crew is working on that reads, "End of construction. Thanks for your patience."

Brandon, cleaning really is refreshing. How wise you are to realize that we daily must clean out our lives of clutter and unChristlike character traits. Thank the Lord for that forgiveness! Julie Boyd

I sometimes think I am never going to get rid of the mess in my heart. We just have to keep cleaning and know that Jesus is washing us with His blood.

On a different note...were you or Sheryl at Baja Burrito yesterday (Monday)? I drove by and saw a Sam look-alike outside. Just wondering.

thanks friends...don't give me any credit though. I seriously dislike cleaning. For example, my lovely wife cleaned and detailed my car for Father's Day 2006. Yesterday was the only time since then that it's been cleaned. Getting my drift? :)

Regarding the heart, I wish I could take more credit, but it is completely the Spirit's work. Painful as it may be.

Did you clean out all of the half eaten power bars?

Your whole family is so special to us. I appreciate your and Sheryls heart for worship and your service to God through that. I also feel like I could use a good cleaning sometimes...Stay strong and try to enjoy the conference.

As you've so often said to me, "Soak in it for awhile."

Soak in His peace. Soak in His love. Soak in the music. Soak in the blessings of family. Soak in the cleansing of the Spirit.

[After all that soaking, your fingers will look "All tickledy," as Chloe says.]

I cleaned out a TON of stuff when I recently moved from Abilene-I think I went through everything I had just about, and had bags full of trash...and yet still had a ton of stuff!! How is that?

I know exactly what you mean-praise God that He can take our junk and make it into something precious and beautiful!! :) I have shed a lot of baggage lately, and though yes, it is a painful process-the restoring part is amazing and beautiful...sometimes being a work in progress is good because God can continue to mold us into His image!

Blessings, friend~
