The show opened last night! It was a great night and we had a good, laughing crowd. I was feeling much better and had some energy back. Thanks for the prayers!!! Here's a shot of the set--all finished!

Another view of our set...Travis really did an amazing job as set designer! Thank you to all those who helped build over the last couple of weeks... ESPECIALLY Janelle Arnold and Ed Rucker!

Backstage in the Green Room, Eve helps Amanda be transformed into "Denise"

Pastor Oglethorp (aka: BST minus the nest of hair and facial hair!), and June (Laura Troup)

OHMYGOSH, what a great show. I have not laughed that hard for that long in quite awhile.....possibly never. When you would start to moon over Laura, it was so funny......you did a great job with your facial expressions. And Laura, when she signed, did such a great job....I saw the warm up song and started laughing even before the show began!! Dennis and I even laughed all the way home, recounting so many funny scenes. Two of my favorites (hard to pin down) was, after Laura had signed a song and came and sat down and you mouthed "that was beautiful"!! I am chuckling even as I write that. The other one, and mind you ALL of the signing was fabulous, was when you held the candle in front of Laura and she signed in the candle light. THAT was so very funny. If I did not have plans for tonight, I would come again......kind of like watching a good movie twice!!! Everyone did such a great job with their parts and the set was superb!!
Thanks for the laughs!!!

Ginger,

Did you mean that Laura signed in ASL the song?? BST, will there be a DVD of this program?? Ya'll got me curious in "what's so beautiful about this!!" ;)

Mark,
I am not sure what official ASL entails, so, this was probably a mix of "real" sign language and then made up sign language. And I guess what is so funny is Laura's face and concentration as she does the signing, and she exagerated a lot of it too.........I guess you just have to see it.
It is hard to explain....in the play, Brandon is so smitten with Laura that ANYTHING she did, he would have thought was beautiful.
I can't remember what song she had just signed, but the combination of her working so hard to sign the song, and then his dreamy eyed, smitten little face, mouthing, (as if she had just sung the Hallalujah Chorus all by herself) "that was beautiful" was a riot. I really think there is no way to describe how funny it was. You would just have to see it!
Sorry!!

Mark,
It just occured to me that you may not know that the signer was a character IN the play, not an official signer FOR the play. She was absolutely fabulous.
Does that help??

ASL stands for American Sign Language, the language most deaf people use with their hands. :) Sorry, I wasn't clear on this "acro" so you may have learned something..

Now, I see where this "signer" is coming from. Thanks for your help... Wished we could see this play.. Next time, via satellite directly from our home.. :)
