Tonight we are going to see Peter Pan at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center with Cathy Rigby. Maddie is so excited. It's all she can think about. Not even knowing, Eve brought over some "big sister" gifts last night and Maddie's was a Tinker Bell doll. (Maddie has also decided to have a Tinker Bell birthday party next month.) She could barely contain herself and go to sleep last night. So cute. My mom bought us all tickets and we're all going--if you can even believe it. Kiki is staying home with BST (Baby Sam Thomas). He's been really easy with bottle and such.
Peter Pan was the very fist musical I saw as a kid. It was probably around 1973 in El Paso, TX. We were visiting my aunt and I still remember it to this day. It was so magical.
Michael Buble is coming in July and we have tickets to see him. You may recall that I've blogged about him several times. I really love his voice and music. Both CDs are really great!
Now, the whole diaper thing...please. Girls are so easy. With Sam there's way too much to consider. I think I had my first successful diaper change over the weekend. Before that it was everywhere. I had heard that little baby boys were like sprinklers. Obviously, they were right. This is where the pee-pee tee-pee's will come in handy--also an Eve gift.
OK--now the really big news!!! Today marks the first day that Blue Bell ice cream can be bought in Nashville area Kroger and Publix supermarkets. (Insert angels rejoicing here!)
All Texans can attest to the miraculous powers of Blue Bell ice cream. People here who have only known Purity are in for such a treat--no offense to Purity lovers. The Tennessean (Middle Tennessee's major newspaper) organized a taste test. People were blindfolded and given bites of each brand of ice cream. Some were familiar with Blue Bell and some weren't. When those who were familiar with it were given the bite of Blue Bell, they clapped their hands and screamed. I laughed at this. Lee Ann Womack, Nashville country artist, even commented that she had a house in Texas but now that Blue Bell was in TN, she might sell it. Hurry out and get some. All flavors are good, but I especially love homemade vanilla (tastes like it's right out of the ice cream freezer) and homemade vanilla with strawberries. Mmmm!
I met Sheryl and the kids at the park for lunch. She amazes me. Her brother and his family are also here to help, but just the fact that she's ready to get out and go is incredible to me. Sam was basking in the sun chasing off some of his jaundice. He is so fun to hold. I just can't believe he's really here.
Have a great day in blog land. I'll report on Peter Pan tomorrow.
PS: Looks like Peg C. and TL were the tied winners for the closest guess. Am I right?

There's nothing as magical as musical theater!! (Unless maybe it's BlueBell Ice cream... it's been in West Tennessee for 5+ years now.) Enjoy both!!
Can I just tell you how excited I am about Blue Bell too!!!!! I totally understand the rejoicing of the Tennessean taste-testers. Now, all we need is good Mexican food and we're set!!!
Can we get a post with some ZOE previews.... what worship teams are we thinking about for the Leadership conference? who's the big speaker? I mean we read your blog & Mike's, we should get a little preview before everyone who doesn't read your blog, since we are so faithful to you.
Wow-how in the world have you survived all of this time without Blue Bell there??!! :) That rocks-glad to know that Nashville can now enter into the kingdom of heaven! Ha-I tried a great Blue Bell flavor a few weeks ago: chocolate covered cherries...YUM!!
I bet you are having a blast with Sam and I am glad that Sheryl is doing so well! Have fun at Peter Pan tonight-I love tha story.
God bless and enjoy your ice cream! :)
I've never had or heard of Blue Bell Ice Cream. You can get some for me next time I'm in Nashville?
So grateful things are going beautifully for your sweet family!
Love to Sheryl...
Great, now we will never get you to visit us in Texas. Blue Bell was our last card to play and now you can have it anytime you want. Well, it was nice knowing you. Double up on the workouts so you can double up on the scoops!
I am soooo crying my eyes out! I have missed Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate, Pistachio Almond, and Strawberry for longer than my body likes to think. My cousin and her husband even live in Brenham, but that's one item that just would not make the ocean crossing.
Man, oh man! Well, I wrote Krispy Kreme and asked them to come here, and they did. Now I will have to solicit Blue Bell for their consideration. Who knows?? If Ben & Jerry's, Haagen Daz, and Baskin Robbins can be here, why not Blue Bell?
Enjoy, and have an extra scoop for me. :)
Oh, and have a great time at Peter Pan. Catch Cathy if she falls!
Bluebell is in Tennessee!!! I'm clapping my hands and screaming!!!
About those diaper changes ~
As my family has developed in reverse order of the Thomas' (two boys THEN a girl), I found it a bit more challenging to deal with a girl's, uh, paraphernalia. My wife gave me this simple word of advice: "Always wipe down. Whatever you do, wipe DOWN."
For boys, I give this one tidbit -- when changing them, keep either part of the diaper or your hand between you and the cannon at all times. You'll be so glad you did.
:-)
Our youngest daughter was a "lost boy" in Peter Pan in our community theater eons ago! It was such fun and it is a magical show. Hope you enjoyed it.
My favorite Blue Bell is Pistachio. Fun eating green ice cream, but very tasty. Glad to know Tennesee is in the 21st Century finally!!! I agree that if you guys could get true Mexican food, it might be like living in Texas!!!
I am like TL, I was not going to mention winning or at least tying on the win, but since you mentioned it, I will too. I would love to have a Zoe CD. I have all the others and would like the new one!
I know you don't have my address but instead of mailing it, how about if I pick it up in July when we are in Nashville. I have already discussed with my family about visiting Otter Creek on the Wednesday night, July 6th. We have family in Summer Shade, Kentucky and will be coming back to Nashville to spend a couple of days. Can I just meet you, your family, see Sam and pick up my CD then?
If you need to reach me, my e-mail is piggy@gt.rr.com
I have to post this for all the native Nashvillians. I left this for another dillusional blogger, like yourself Brandon. I love you brother, but you are bordering on blasphemy!
I saw the article in the Tennessean about that and how Texans feel about it.
We native Nashvillians feel the same way about Purity. I am very loyal to Purity because: they have the best tasting dairy products; they give back to the community; and they were founded by a Christian family (though no longer owned by that family).
I will try the Bluebell just to see what the fuss is all about, but it cannot be better than Purity!!!
This is a doctrinal issue, our very souls are in danger if we choose the wrong ice cream. Would one man follow Purity, and another Bluebell... Oh what dissession. Purity: the name itself clearly indicates it is the chosen product.

For a second there, as the page / picture loaded, I thought I'd hit the jackpot! Another infamous picture of Brandon!! It was not to be.
Our oldest had a little jaundice. Hey, yellow kids can be cute, too.
When changing a boys diaper always remember this ancient proverb: When in doubt, point him south. This keeps the pee-pee in the diaper after it is on. Hope that helps.
I love the pictures of your girls at Peter Pan! They are both beautiful. Since we live in Midland and don't get many chances to see the big shows we have been introducing the kids to musicals by CD. Right now we have Fiddler on the Roof and Wicked in the car. Michael Buble is wonderful...I'm jealous! Congratulations on little Sam...I bet your mom is eating him up!
